The Upper Wind River corridor is an essential part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Riverside cottonwood forests and robust riparian vegetation provide homes for hundreds of wildlife species, including bald eagles, osprey, elk and deer. An undisturbed floodplain with healthy riparian vegetation also serves to dissipate and store floodwaters, as well as trap sediment.
